ولد عبدالستار الموسى في الإحساء ، يعيش في الدمام ، شغف بالفن عندما كان يدرس في الصفوف التعليمية المبكرة ، تتلمذ على يد معلمه عبدالحميد البقشي مع رفيق دربه حمد الأمير  ، وفي عام ١٩٧٥ م غادر إلى روسيا في بعثة تعليمية لدراسة الطب غير أن الفن سرق قلبه فترك كلية الطب والتحق بجامعة موسكو ( سوركوف ) وفي عام ١٩٨١م ، اقام معرضه الشخصي الأول في بيت الصداقة في العاصمة موسكو ثم في عام ١٩٨٢م حصل على درجة البكالوريوس والماجستير قسم الجرافيك والتكوين من نفس الجامعة  وإبان دراسته غادر روسيا الى مدينة مريوبل في اوكرانيا وهناك انتج اعماله الجدارية الأولى وفي عام ١٩٨٦م اقام معرض شخصي في فلفرات بألمانيا ، وتلاه في عام ١٩٩٢م بمعرض شخصي بالمجمع الثقافي بمدينة ابوظبي بالإمارات العربية المتحدة ، شارك في معارض مشتركة منذ عام ١٩٨٥م  في عدة مدن وعواصم عالمية ومحلية من بينها موسكو واوكرانيا والرياض ، إقتنيت اعماله من قبل متاحف عالمية من بينها متحف بوشكين ومتحف دنتيسك ومتحف مريوبل و ومن قبل جامعي الأعمال الفنية في كل السعودية والإمارات  وروسيا وبولندا وهولندا  

 

أدرك عبدالستار الموسى بلاغة اختياره لفن الجرافيك عندما إلتحق بجامعة موسكو ودرس على يد ثلاث من أشهر معلمي فن الجرافيك هناك ، تعَّلم طرائق واساليب لا حصر لها من التقنيات المتخصصة والمعمقة في الحفر على اللينيوم والكاتشوك وطباعة الحجر ورسم الموديل والطبيعة الصامتة والدعاية والاعلان  كما درس الفلسفة وتاريخ الفن بشكل واسع وفي وقت لاحق اكتشف  عن طريق الصدفة أن الحفر على الكرتون شكلت له خصائص حساسيته البصرية التي أنتج منها أكثر أعماله حضورآ في المشهد الفني ، تناول الموسى في وقت مبكر متخيلات تنتمي طقوسها إلى المشاهد الإجتماعية التي تتصل بالحياة اليومية مثل تصوير المقاهي والعاملين فيها وحيوية الدور الذي يقومون به وصور ايقاعات النسوة في المناسبات الإعتيادية كما في الأعراس مثل يوم الحناء  للعروس والأهازيج التي تقرع فيها الدفوف والزغاريد ونحوهما ، يعتبر الموسى واحدآ من الفنانين القلائل في المحترف السعودي الذين  تلقوا علوم الطباعة والحفر وفن الجرافيك وفق القواعد الأكثر تعقيدآ والتي أنتج من خلاها اعماله الجمالية المرهفة .

Abdulsattar Al Mussa was born in Al-Ahsa and currently lives in Dammam. His passion for arts was ignited when he first started his learning journey, at an early age. He was taught by Abdulhamid Al Bakshi along with his friend Hamad Al Amir. In 1975, he left home for Russia, with a learning delegation to study medicine. However, art stole his heart and he left medicine behind to pursue studies at the University of Moscow )Swarkof(. In 1981, he held his first individual exhibition at the People’s Friendship University in Moscow and obtained in 1982 a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the graphics and composition department of the same university. After his studies ended, he left Russia for the city of Mariupol in Ukraine and produced there his first wall art. In 1986, he held an individual exhibition in Germany and it was followed by another individual exhibition in 1992 at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He participated in joint exhibitions since 1985 in several local and international cities and countries including Moscow, Riyadh and Ukraine. His works of art have been acquired by international museums including the Pushkin Museum, the Donetsk Museum and the Mariupol Museum, as well as by art collectors in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Russia, Poland and Holland. 

 

Abdulsattar Al Mussa realized the rhetoric of his graphical arts choice when he joined the University in Moscow and studied under the scrutiny of three of the most famous graphic design teachers. He learned methods and styles that are limitless in terms of specialized and profound techniques in carvings on linoleum, rubber, typography on stones, model and still-life drawings, advertising and publicity. He also studied philosophy and the history of Art in a wide manner. Later on, he coincidentally discovered that carving on cardboards is what makes up his visual sensitive specificities from which he produced his most present works of art in the artistic scene. Al Mussa chose, earlier on, the rituals of imaginings that pertain to the social scenes that are connected to daily life, such as drawings of cafés and their employees, as well as the vitality with which they are doing their jobs. He also drew the women’s rhythms in usual occasions, such as weddings, Henna day for the bride, chants during which timbrels and trilling cries of joy are heard. Al Mussa is considered one of the few Saudi professional artists that have followed typography, carvings and graphical arts lessons according to the most complex rules, and from which spring his aesthetic sensitive art.
