Khalid Al Mutlaq

Khalid Al-Mutlaq, an artist born in 1981 in Abha, has had a passion for the arts since childhood. His early years were spent exploring various artistic expressions, including drawing, clay modeling, and imitating calligraphy from newspapers and magazines. At the age of sixteen, he joined the Al-Meftaha arts village, a pivotal moment in his artistic journey. The village, a hub for artists, sculptors, and photographers, from across the kingdom, hosted exhibitions and workshops where Khalid showcased his work. Notably, he attended a key workshop by the late artist Abdulhalim Radwi in the summer of 1999.

Khalid participated in art exhibitions organized by the General Presidency for Youth Welfare , Both within Saudi Arabia and abroad. His passion for Arabic calligraphy deepened as he delved into its beauty and its meaning. He began self-learning Arabic calligraphy from books and references specializing in the details of the letters until he met the late master calligrapher Abbas Al-Baghdadi in 2020, from whom he earned his certification.

Khalid Al-Mutlaq approaches each work as a unique composition with letters and their connections, whether from verses of poetry or the aesthetics of the Arabic language, such as puns, symmetry, contrast, grammar, and morphology.
