Artist
Maha Mohammad
Maha is a Saudi visual artist and writer whose practice is grounded in personal experience and self-reflection. Through her paper-based works, she explores states of incomplete presence, where layers of paper intersect with memory, the body, and identity. Binding, wrapping, and accumulation recur in her work as symbols of female experience, and as a way of examining the space between what is contained and what is carried silently over time. Her writing intersects with her paper-based practice, exploring vulnerability, solitude, and the moments in which one carries their strength and freedom while confronting their surroundings.
Mha treats paper as an extension of the subject she engages with, using layering, structure, and added materials to create works that hold the tension between containment and freedom, between what is revealed and what remains hidden, offering a sensory and emotional reading of what is stored and carried within the human experience.
