About the event
In a globalised world, how do you make work that doesn’t appeal to a flattened universal but intimately speaks from and of a particular? Beyond culture, history or politics, how do climatic conditions produce the artist or writer?
Art Writer and Critic Rahel Aima invites you to:
A series of short presentations followed by discussions on heat, humidity, and dust. These conversations are part of the writer’s participation in Al Balad Art Residency and her research into cultural production and terroir in the Arabian Peninsula.
Three writing workshops that drill down into these themes: how to produce writing that is humid, radiates heat, and transports the reader like the memory of dust.
Both the discussions and workshops will take place in English.
