Tracing Lines of Growth
21 january - 26 May, 2025
An immersive solo exhibition by the contemporary Saudi artist that explores the intersection of nature, memory, and human intervention. Using delicate organic forms—leaves—as the primary medium, the exhibition captures the passage of time and the transformation of natural elements into human artifacts.
The work highlights the intricate patterns of growth by tracing the continuity of each line. A fine black and red thread is used to tell the story of each line. A meditative conversation between the artist and the leaf reveals continuities, tensions and deformations. The subtleties of folding and shriveling, tension and compression along the surface and volume of the leaf are highlighted. The resulting formal compositions are reminiscent of archaic musical instruments, while the sinuous flow of texture suggests bodily movement and dynamism. Each leaf represents the passage of time and the traces of its memory as they are transformed into human artefacts."
Through meticulous craftsmanship and a meditative artistic process, the works evoke themes of continuity, growth, tension, and transformation, presenting a dialogue between nature’s organic rhythms and humanity’s creative impulses.
