Hafez Gallery Presents “Wherever It Appears, It Dazzles” at Misk Art Week 2025
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Hafez Gallery is proud to announce its participation in Misk Art Week 2025 with the exhibition Wherever It Appears, It Dazzles, curated by Abdelrahman ElShahed. The exhibition will be held at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall in Riyadh from December 4th to 10th, 2025, open daily from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Wherever It Appears, It Dazzles explores the enduring beauty and expressive geometry of the Arabic letter, presenting works by leading and emerging artists who draw on the forms, rhythms, and cultural significance of calligraphy in contemporary art practice.
The artists featured in Wherever It Appears, It Dazzles collectively embody a profound exploration of Arabic calligraphy as a contemporary art form. Each artist brings a unique approach, blending tradition with innovation: from Ibrahim Alhoshan’s material experiments and Um Kulthoom Alalawi’s digital abstractions, to Doaa Al Ashari’s spiritual geometry and Basmah Alsaqaabi’s rhythmic mixed media. Abdulrahman Alkabran’s layered narratives, Obaid Bahamid’s minimalist abstractions, Layal Algain’s architectural forms, Layla al Kaf’s energetic canvases, and Maha Khogeer’s bold brushwork all converge to celebrate the Arabic letter not simply as text but as a form of visual expression in itself. Together, they highlight the exhibition’s central theme: that whenever the Arabic letter appears, it dazzles.
Artist full list: Ibrahim Alhoshan, Um Kulthoom Alalawi, Doaa Al Ashari, Basmah Alsaqaabi, Abdulrahman Alkabran, Obaid Bahamid, Layal Algain, Layla al Kaf, and Maha Khogeer. Each contributes a unique voice to a group presentation where abstraction, symbolism, geometry, and the radiant power of the letter itself come to life.
