Hafez Gallery is proud to announce its participation in Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2025, presenting a thoughtfully curated booth that brings together three of Saudi Arabia’s most distinctive artistic voices: Sami Al Marzoogi, Sara Al Abdali, and Raeda Ashour. 

This presentation unifies decades of artistic exploration, each artist offering a specific visual language.

Sami Al Marzoogi is recognized for his evocative explorations of color theory and line, with works that hover at the dynamic border of figuration and abstraction. His practice weaves together keen draughtsmanship and an intuitive sense of the emotive power found in color, resulting in complex compositions that can trigger either emotional resonance and or a meditative state. Al Marzoogi’s art is both spontaneous and deeply reflective, disclosing a language that is unmistakably his own.

Sara Al Abdali’s multi-disciplinary approach draws on the rich material culture and layered history of the Hejaz. Her work is shaped by an ongoing conversation between traditional craft and contemporary narrative, seamlessly integrating motifs from Islamic miniatures, architecture, and the urban landscape of Jeddah. Al Abdali’s practice crafts a dialogue between past and present, celebrating Arab culture while interrogating the dynamics of memory, heritage, and the shifting landscape of identity. Her steely sense of place, fluency in both traditional and experimental media, and the poetic charge of her visual storytelling ground our booth with a contemporary edge.

Raeda Ashour specializes in reimagining Islamic ornamentation and miniature art for the modern era. Her pieces feature meticulously adapted motifs, geometric units, and hand-embossed surfaces, all rendered in a palette that blends soft, compelling colors with striking surface reliefs. Ashour’s profound respect for heritage and her mastery of various decorative traditions result in meditative, harmonious compositions that radiate an air of serenity and timelessness. Through her research and artistry, she forges delicate threads between historic Islamic art and the global language of abstraction.

Presented together, these three practices form a compelling narrative of contemporary Saudi art’s evolution. Each artist, in their own way, embodies a dialogue between tradition and innovation, whether through the transformation of color, the reinvention of collective memory, or the reinterpretation of cultural ornament.
