ولدت لولوة الحمود في المملكة العربية السعودية، وهي تعيش حاليًا وتعمل بين الإمارات العربية المتحدة وإنجلترا. هي حاصلة على بكالوريوس في علم الاجتماع من جامعة الملك سعود في الرياض، وعلى درجة الماجستير من كلية سانت مارتينز المركزية للفنون والتصميم في لندن. تستوحي الحمود أعمالها من  الخط الإسلامي والهندسة.

تبدأ الخطوة الأولى نحو التنوير بالبحث عن الداخل. فالحقيقة الداخلية هي التي تؤدي إلى اكتشاف نور المعرفة. وتهتم لولوة في أعمالها الفنيّة بالبحث عن الصحة الداخلية التي تكمن في كلّ الأشياء. ففنها هو نظرة عميقة في الخلق وقواعده المخفية التي قادت لولوة إلى حقيقة الوجود، لإيجاد توازن ثابت في كل مادة وما تختلقه هذه المادة من تفاعل حيوي مع بعضها البعض.

يترجم عملها "لغة الوجود" هذا البحث عن التنوير عبر تفكيك حروف الأبجدية العربية باستخدام مربع حسابي لتأليف رموز جديدة لكلّ حرف. وباستخدام هذه الرموز، أدرجت لولوة الحمود أسماء الحسنى ال٩٩. فالله، هو مصدر النور والمعارف وكلّ شيء مطلق يسطع من خلال المتناهي.

 

Born in Saudi Arabia, she currently lives and works between United Arab Emirates and England. She graduated with a major in Sociology from King Saud University in Riyadh and a Master’s degree from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Al Homoud is inspired by Islamic calligraphy and geometry.

 

The first step towards enlightenment is to search for the inner. It is this inner truth that leads to the light of knowledge. Her art is concerned with the inner veracity of everything. It is a deep look at creation and its hidden rules that led me to the truth of existence, to find the static equilibrium in every substance and their dynamic interaction with one another.

 

‘The Language of Existence’ carries this search by deconstructing the letters of the Arabic language by using a mathematical square to compose new codes for each letter. With these codes, I inscribe the 99 names of God. It is He; the source of Light, Knowledge and The Infinite; shining through the finite.
